Rae Riiska is based in the Gainesville area and works as the Communications Assistant for the George A. Smathers Libraries at the University of Florida. In this role, she develops social media strategy, pitches and executes videos, photographs events and general visuals, creates graphic designs, and does writing and general outreach for the libraries.

Rae graduated from the University of Florida journalism school with a BS in journalism and a focus on photojournalism. She has a strong background in photography and videography and multiple Adobe products - Premiere Pro, Audition, Lightroom, InDesign, and Photoshop.

Rae has previously covered the greater North Central Florida area through The Independent Florida Alligator and WUFT News. She currently freelances, mostly in the Gainesville area, for the Gainesville Sun and has contributed to the Washington Post. Her photo experience ranges from sports to news, political, spot news, enterprise, and features. Rae is always looking for ways to fuse art and news through her camera's lens.
